Extra curly, No Poo day 6

Every other Saturday I volunteer at the Emerald House to benefit the service center. I always try to look semi-professional, so I thought I would take a shower and No Poo. I meant to take pictures earlier and got distracted by house work, so now my hair has been dry for a little while.

If I look a little surprised in the picture it is because my hair is curlier and shinier than usual! It tends to kind of flatten out in the winter because it is so dry and cold. After the shower I noticed less hair in the drain and on my comb. I usually have a lot of hair falling out and sticking to my hands as I shampoo, but not when I No Poo.

It’s been almost a week of No Poo (& no soap and oil cleansing method) and I don’t have any complaints. I do not miss my shampoo. I am much less itchy than I normally would be in the winter. I did notice the faintest hint of a vinegar smell when I got home from aerobics/belly dancing class last night. I didn’t smell it at first, I was just curious since my hair was sweaty, so I stuck my nose in it to have a sniff. Someone sitting next to me definitely wouldn’t smell it. A person would have to be actively smelling your hair to notice. If that’s the price of awesome hair, so be it.

I am still waiting on my supplies for making deodorant  lotion bars, body wash (no soap), shaving cream, etc. I am using my store bought natural products until I can transition.

So to do a recap of this weeks beauty regime:
No Poo wash 1Tbs baking soda, 1 cup water, massaged into the scalp for 3 minutes and rinsed with water
No Conditioner 1 Tbs apple cider vinegar, 1 Cup water, massaged into hair for 3 minutes and rinsed well with water

Oil cleansing method (every day)= organic olive oil (until the rest of my oils arrive), massage small amount onto face, allow to soak in, use hot cloth to steam face, wipe face gently to remove excess oil
